What is Insight Meditation?

Insight (or vipassana) meditation was first developed and taught by the Buddha 2500 years ago as one of the central practices in his tradition. It’s unique in that it crystallises the main points in his teaching into just one powerful but straightforward meditation practice based on open and honest sensitivity to our present experience.

In this way the processes that impinge on our wellbeing reveal themselves, and our life choices become wiser and freer, on the way to full liberation. The Buddha himself thus called insight meditation ‘the direct path to realisation’.

The Bluegum Sangha encourages open discussion and exploration of the different approaches to a practice that must always remain creative, and adaptable to each practitioner’s personality.
