Malcolm Huxter

Malcolm began following the teachings of the Buddha in the mid 1970’s. Since then, he has mostly practised within the Theravada traditions including ordaining in Thailand for 2 years the forest tradition and regular long retreats using both insight and serenity approaches. He has also practised within Tibetan Mahayana and Japanese Zen traditions.

Malcolm is a Dharma teacher and a clinical psychologist. As a clinical psychologist he works in private practice. He has written mindfulness based programs for a broad range of conditions and he has been sharing his understanding of the Buddha’s path in the form of individual psychotherapy, courses, retreats, and therapist workshops since 1991. As a Dharma teacher he regularly conducts silent retreats, online days of meditation and contributes to online platforms. He teaches both insight and serenity, including the heart qualities: warm benevolence, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity.

Malcolm has published chapters in academic books, written in psychology journals and magazines and had a book called “Healing the heart and mind with mindfulness. Ancient path, present moment” released in 2016. He is a loving partner, proud dad of three adult sons and a doting granddad.
